Delivering effective team building since 1978

Our superb range of
Team Building Teamdays

Although the main thrust of all our team building Teamdays is enjoyable team action, there is a serious side to these team building events as well, and our experienced facilitators will gently challenge perceptions and raise levels of awareness in such a way that there is development and learning for both the team and each individual.  We do not force anyone to do anything they do not want to do, nor will anyone be embarrassed in front of their colleagues.  Teamdays are always very positive team building events with very positive outcomes.

The following should give you a flavour of each team building Teamday.  If you require further information, please follow the links or contact the office, either by telephone on 01874 625111, or by completing our online enquiry form.

Jigsaw & Gridlock

Run from     Both these Teamdays can be run virtually anywhere!

Suitable for  Teams of between about 6 and 60 people.  Jigsaw for smaller teams (6 – 20); Gridlock for larger teams (20 – 60).

Duration      Full day & half-day options as standard.  Longer residential options available.

Effort          Physically undemanding but mentally stretching.

Style           These Teamdays can be run totally indoors, totally outdoors, or a mixture of the two.

The overall objective is to earn the pieces of a giant jigsaw or large wooden grid.  Although both these team building events can be run entirely indoors, we anticipate that some people will want us to offer a few outdoor exercises, so the design is flexible enough to enable us to modify each programme accordingly.  The learning is also flexible, and we can include modules which reflect any specific training needs and objectives.

Mission Improbable

Run from     This Teamday can be run virtually anywhere!

Suitable for  Teams of between about 5 and 20 people.

Duration      Full day & half-day options as standard.  Longer residential versions available.

Effort          Physically undemanding, involving a mix of indoor and outdoor tasks.

Style           Co-operative, requiring excellent communication both within and between teams.

Mission Improbable is an innovative team building event that can be run virtually anywhere (except inner city locations).  It is a complex task that requires thorough planning, good project management, effective problem solving, excellent communication and sensitive negotiation ~ but most of all it is fun!  It involves both indoor and outdoor exercises, and the learning is highly experiential and relevant to work.

Scavenger

Run from     This teamday can be run anywhere!

Suitable for  Teams of between about 4 and 100 people.

Duration      From one hour to one day.

Effort          Physically undemanding but mentally stretching.

Style           Competitive & co-operative options available.  Self-administered versions available.

Scavenger is fast, furious, and fun, involving a huge amount of things to do within a surprisingly tight time frame!  Although some items appear impossible, everything is possible so long as people drop their preconceptions and start thinking outside the box.  Scavenger is therefore superb as a method of team building, encouraging corporate creativity as well as enhancing communication, problem solving and team spirit.

Enigma

Run from     Various centres across the UK – and we are happy to research new venues if required.

Suitable for  Teams of between about 6 and 60 people.

Duration      Full day or longer.  Residential options available.

Effort          Gently physical.

Style           Competitive & cooperative options available.  Mainly outdoors in scenic surroundings.

Enigma is an extremely adaptable team building event.  Although the standard event lasts a full day, the event can be extended by up to 12 hours if required.  It can also be run either as a straight competition or as a cooperative event between sub teams in which no single group can win without there being an element of negotiation and cooperation.  At its most basic level, it is purely an enjoyable team building exercise designed to foster team spirit and enhance communication.  At the other extreme it can be used as a practical illustration of many of the issues that arise at work.

Arena

Run from     Crickhowell, on the A40 in the Welsh borderlands, within easy travelling distance of Cardiff, Swansea, Bristol, Bath, & Hereford.

Suitable for  Teams of between about 5 and 30 people.

Duration      Full day & half-day options available.

Effort          Minimum effort for maximum adrenaline!

Style           Competitive & non-competitive options available.

Originally designed for the management and technical teams of one of Wales’ premiere Theatres, Arena is different to our other team building events in that it involves a considerable amount of excitement and adrenaline for only a modicum of physical effort.  It is based at a modern indoor ropes-centre where the overall objective is for the team to gain as main points as possible by completing a series of challenges.  As with all our Teamdays, no one is forced to take part in anything they do not wish to try, and there are options available for everyone, no matter what their level of fitness or ability.

The Search

Run from     Brecon, on the A40 in the Welsh borderlands, within easy travelling distance of Cardiff, Swansea, Bristol, Bath, & Hereford.

Suitable for  Teams of between about 12 and 40 people.

Duration      Full day or longer.  Residential options available.

Effort          Sub-group options range from gently physical to fairly strenuous.

Style           Non-competitive.  Largely outdoors in breathtaking surroundings.

The Search takes place in the heart of the stunning Brecon Beacons, yet easily accessible from the M4 and M5 corridors.  The exercise revolves around a complex planning task in which there are opportunities for several people to have leadership roles.  The overall objective is to locate a series of code cards which can then be used to find the location of a “reward”, and it is necessary for the team to form several sub-groups, the nature of these being dependent upon the abilities and fitness levels of those people taking part.  This highly enjoyable team building exercise can therefore be used to illustrate the benefits and difficulties of granting ownership, and the need to investigate and make use of the range of skills and (human) resources within the team.

The Quest

Run from     Crickhowell, on the A40 in the Welsh borderlands, within easy travelling distance of Cardiff, Swansea, Bristol, Bath, & Hereford.

Suitable for  Teams of between about 6 and 40 people.

Duration     Full day only.  Residential options available.

Effort        Moderately strenuous but with easier options.

Style          Competitive & co-operative options available.  Largely outdoors in stunning countryside.

The Quest is our original team building event, yet it remains a firm favourite with many clients.  The overall objective is to locate and recover a series of tokens during a “treasure hunt” type hill-walk, but there are numerous variations that allow us to mimic a wide range of issues.  This is possible because The Quest is divided into five distinct phases, each independently programmable and all with a range of leadership opportunities.  Additionally, this teamday is suitable for single as well as multiple teams, and with the latter it can be run either as a competitive or a co-operative exercise – or even a mix!

Rising Damp

Run from     Elan, near the A44/A470 junction in mid-Wales, based at an excellent residential training centre in superlative surroundings.

Suitable for  Teams of between about 8 and 32 people.

Duration      Full day or longer, with a highly recommended residential option.

Effort          Fairly physical with easier options.

Style              Constructively competitive!

Rising Damp is a competitive event for teams of between 4 & 6 people.  Based at a truly exceptional training centre in mid-Wales, it is best run as a residential team building event of 2 nights/1˝ days duration.  Participants arrive in time for dinner on day one, and the event starts immediately after the meal, finishing just before dinner on day two.  A facilitated evaluation is run on the morning of day three, participants leaving after lunch.  Teams have exclusive use of the centre for the duration of the event, and the stay can be extended if required so that teams can take advantage of additional training or use the facilities to hold their own meetings.

The Merlin Enigma

Run from     Beddgelert, in the heart of Snowdonia yet easily accessible via the A5 & A55.

Suitable for  Teams of between about 12 and 36 people.

Duration      Full day or longer, with a highly recommended residential option.

Effort          Fairly strenuous.

Style           Competitive and Co-operative options available.

This Teamday is basically an adventurous version of our popular Enigma team building event.  Based in central Snowdonia, it revolves around an Arthurian Legend.  Participants are required to undertake a walk of about eight miles through superb mountain scenery, during which they must complete a number of tasks, two of which involve fairly adventurous activities (no-one is forced to take part in these), the other being a simple problem solving task but in a stunningly unique location!  As with Rising Damp, this event is best run as a residential team building event of 2 nights/1˝ days duration, in which participants arrive in time for dinner on day one, the planning phase starting immediately after the meal.  The event comes to a climax just before dinner on day two, and a facilitated evaluation is run on the morning of day three, the team leaving after lunch.
